Photo Scavenger Hunt Send your guests hunting for the best photo-worthy moments! Include a prize for those who complete their list the fastest. Say: ‘Work with a partner. Can you remember the sentences? Write only true sentences in your books. You have three minutes.’

Instead of just waiting for people to raise their hand, everybody is already standing. It’s a way to flip that mode of participation. All right, we’re going to play the stand-up game. Will everybody stand up. This is the stand-up game. Stand-up sit-down wedding games are interactive and entertaining activities that can be incorporated into a wedding reception to engage guests and create memorable moments. These games encourage participation, foster a lively atmosphere, and entertain guests of all ages.

How to play: Guests old and young share their personalized marriage advice for the couple’s new journey ahead. Include a place for guests to both write and place their advice cards, and later turn these into a unique guest book. For a special touch, arrange a wine bottle for each upcoming anniversary and ask guests to enter cards for each landmark year. Play continues with students throwing the ball to peers with their hands up for more ideas to be shared until time is up. A simple game which allows people to express where they stand on an issue - by literally standing along an imaginary spectrum. For example, if you fold toilet paper, stand on the right hand side of the room, if you scrunch stand on the left! We have discussed eight types of stand-up sit-down wedding games that can be incorporated into a wedding reception to engage guests and create memorable moments. These games encourage participation, foster a lively atmosphere, and entertain guests of all ages. The Stand Up Sit Down game is one of the most popular party games. However, there’s a lot of mystery about it. If you want to play this game but aren’t sure where to start or how to play, then keep reading! This article will give you all you need to know about the Stand Up Sit Down game. The game is simple to play but has a lot of strategy involved. It’s more like a game of questions and answers than a conversation. However, it’s still meant to be fun. It’s best to play the game with a group of your close friends.

Dancing doesn’t have to be the only activity that your wedding guests partake in at your reception. Mix things up by incorporating fun wedding games! There are endless options that can work…whether you’re looking to fill up time or even provide alternative entertainment options for a dry wedding or those without a DJ. Kids from any age group seem to love this game, and it gets the entire class engaged and moving, whilst having to look a bit silly at the same time. This helps to break the ice and provide some laughter to the classroom. You can even have students write ideas on paper and then one student must choose a piece of paper from a bag, and then act out that idea instead. You can adapt Charades in many ways! This stand-up sit-down game adds a romantic twist to musical chairs. Guests walk around a circle of chairs, one less than the participants. When the music stops, everyone finds a chair and sits down. One chair is removed each round, eliminating the last person standing. The game continues until only one person remains seated, crowned the winner. No Winners: There doesn’t need to find a winner in many simple EFL activities like this one. A lot of teachers get hung up on finding the best student. They eliminate the slowest and incorrect students. That means more and more kids can’t play, which is really frustrating for them. If the game is fun then your students will play without needing a winner.

In this icebreaker, kids create a personal timeline by drawing significant events from their lives, such as birthdays, vacations, or achievements. Students draw objects that represent these events to help decorate their personal timelines. Kids can also include things that they love in their timelines, such as their favorite sport, favorite animal or favorite food. Pose various hypothetical scenarios and ask each child to choose between two options. Participants take turns explaining their choices, promoting critical thinking, reasoning, and discussion. Good for larger groups, this one starts with everyone in the group standing up. The facilitator then reads a statement and all those to whom it applies sit down (eg Sit down if you have eaten chocolate today). The last one standing is the winner! Prepare Ahead: It helps to prepare some questions ahead of time, especially if you aren’t a fast thinker (like me). The pace needs to be pretty fast to stay engaging. Kids don’t like waiting 10 seconds between each question.Children’s Interactive Placemat Keep kids of all ages occupied with a DIY interactive placemat. Include puzzles, art and word games for endless fun! Divide children into teams and provide each team with a whiteboard, markers, and a set of cards with simple drawings or words. One player from each team draws a card and must convey the word or phrase to their teammates through drawing, without speaking. Guess the Couple is a popular game that tests how well your guests know the newlyweds. The DJ or MC asks questions about the couple’s preferences, habits, or experiences. Guests stand up if they believe the answer applies to the bride or sit down if it pertains to the groom—the last guest remaining wins. This is a great wedding game to play towards the beginning of a reception since it acts as an icebreaker. Guests simply stand up when they agree with whatever funny question or statement is read aloud. I would talk to your DJ about planning some fun music samples to play for this. Giant Jenga This group counseling activity is a huge time saver because the only prep it requires is making sure you have paper and writing utensils in your office. Provide each student with paper and a writing utensil, and ask them to write down things or qualities that make them special or unique. Mix up all of the papers, and read the statements aloud. As a group, try and guess who that statement describes. Play up the mystery for extra laughs, e.g. “Hmmm…. could this be Gretchen?! I’m not sure if she can wiggle her ears…but maybe…” (complete with exaggerated facial expressions and tone of voice).

Of all of the kids’ icebreaker games, musical chairs is one that’s guaranteed to get all the kids up and moving. Each person gets a bingo card with several boxes. Each box contains a statement - for example "Someone who has been to the Grand Canyon" or "Someone who roots for the Chicago Bulls". The goal is to mingle amongst the group and get a signature of someone in the box for whom the statement is correct. A great way to encourage people to mix and talk. Set Up: Alphabet letter cards, picture cards or word list. (These should be for 2 to 3 letters you have focused on in class.) How to play: Set aside an area where kids and adults alike can spread out and play hopscotch. Use multi-colored tape on a grassier surface or chalk where possible. Be sure to include sandbags for more complex games that can be played on a hopscotch course.Start this icebreaker by passing around a roll of toilet paper and ask people to tear off the amount they normally use. Once everyone has done this, you then announce that for each sheet they have torn off, they must tell the group one thing about themselves! I would love to know what icebreaker you have used that has really worked for you in your classroom. Please leave a comment below. How to play: On each plate setting, include a small crossword puzzle with hints and answers that showcase favorite tidbits from the newlywed’s history. Include “where we first met” or “where the bride grew up” as some fun examples. This crossword puzzle game also gets the table guests chatting and making new friends. Integrating Wedding Piñata into your wedding party games adds an element of excitement and surprise. Guests of all ages can participate, creating a festive and enjoyable atmosphere. I often hear from teachers who haven’t got enough space for their students to move around in class. There’s no room for them to line up, run around, move desks, or even walk around. These teachers say it’s impossible for their kids to be active in class, even though it’s important. The good news is that there are simple EFL activities like Stand Up/Sit Down that will increase your students’ opportunities to move without increasing classroom chaos.
